Alex is 21 and loves Classic Rock on 98.5 KFOX because he loves guitar, and loves great songs. His favorite band is Motley Crue. Today he got a guitar lesson from me in our on-air studio, and played “Fly By Night” by Rush for me on my guitar. The guitar you see is one of the guitars I use to play my “Mystery Riff” feature weekday mornings at 7:00am.
When he handed my guitar back to me, I played a Mystery Riff for him to solve. Right away, he correctly guessed that I played “Ramble On” by Led Zeppelin. Alex goes to a lot of Classic Rock concerts with the money he makes working at California’s Great America.
I guess the question isn’t so much, “Why would a 21-year-old love Classic Rock as much as his parents do?” but rather, “Why wouldn’t a 21-year-old love Classic Rock as much as his parents do?”
After all, my son Tyler loves The Who’s “Baba O’Riley,” and he’s about Alex’s age. Rock on, Alex!
