The Pruneyard will not renew El Burro’s lease, so our beloved awesome fix for Mexican food for the last 47 years will be closing. They hope to reopen in the Campbell area someday, but prices are high and there isn’t much space available. If necessary, and if possible, they’re willing to move to a small place temporarily. So get over to El Burro for a last fix of that awesome salsa and rice (my fav there)!
I was there this week, and even though they’d planned on staying open until mid-June, today, Wednesday, May 16 is there last day open, according to family of the owners. They can’t staff the place anymore (employees have had to leave to find new jobs).
Luna Mexican Kitchen is moving in to that space, along with two other businesses, so I hear.
I’m born and raised in San Jose and my parents took me to El Burro every few weeks for many years! Love me some El Burro for their chairs, tables, tostadas, enchiladas, salsa, rice…well, everything!
