I’m excited for football to start! I have nothing planned this weekend, but watching football. This is the game I love to watch most. I grew up a Chicago Bears fan, but always had a soft spot in my heart for the Oakland Raiders. I moved to The Bay about 16 years ago and fell in love with going to Raider games. Over the years, I became a big fan. Now they’re moving and I don’t know what to do. I feel like the team made a decision to leave and I hate that. I can’t root against them as they’re in my heart, I just don’t feel like supporting them like I normally do is in order either. My 10 year old son is an enormous fan and he’s torn as well. A lot of my friends are Raider for life people, but I can’t get onboard with that thinking. There are some things that should be for life, your commitment to family and your principles, but a football team? A football team is a for profit entity. A for profit entity is always going to do whatever they can for a profit. Do they care about the season I sacrificed to be able to take my family to a game and spent close to $500 on tickets? Do they care about the thousands of dollars in gear I’ve bought over the years? Guess not, they’re leaving. But, I’ll still be watching Monday night, trying to figure out how to feel about this.
My 10 year old son Bobby gets into it!
