Zen in the Midst of Turkey Chaos

Typically, my local grocery store is pretty quiet in the middle of the day, but this is the Monday before Thanksgiving so I encountered a little bit of crazy when I dropped in to get tonight’s dinner. The serious Turkey Day shoppers were already there loading their carts with potatoes, cranberries, turkeys and wine.

I managed to accomplish my quick dinner shop in under fifteen minutes.  On the way home I made a quick detour to the small Redwood Grove down the hill from our house.  A bench awaited, I sat and stared up through the circle of trees, feeling like the little speck I am in the mighty universe, remembering that even in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holidays, all I need is quick shot of zen to stay focused, less frantic and thankful for the simple pleasures in life which today included Redwood trees, fresh cracked crab and Classic Rock!
