A bill to lower the voting age just cleared the assembly and is headed to the Senate.
Young people across America have been more active than ever. They are mobilizing, marching and speaking out about issues that affect their lives and the country they are set to inherit.
When dozens of teens and lawmakers rallied at the state Capitol to pass Assembly-member Evan Low’s bill Constitutional Amendment Eight (ACA 8), and they were heard. ACA 8 would amend the state constitution to drop the voting age to 17 for all state-wed elections.
The next stop is the State Senate. If two-thirds of senators agree the measure would go to the voters.
