South Bay’s best rice

It’s the Father’s Day present I wish I could’ve gotten. You could get it to go in a party tray for 10 people: I’d make it last for 10 days 🙂

But, alas – it’s gone, for now…maybe forever. El Burro in the Pruneyard, Campbell, has been closed for a couple years, and their rice has been missing in my life. There was talk of them reopening somewhere else near Campbell, but there is no public discussion about it now. It was replaced by Luna Mexican Kitchen, where the patio is now open, but inside dining is still closed due to Coronavirus restrictions.

The rice appeared simple. Spanish rice. Orange rice. No peas in it. A few peppers. A flavor that was unmatched.

It looked good at night:

Sad day when it closed around Mother’s Day, 2018:

My wish for Father’s Day 2021?  I think we all know–a certain recipe, maybe?
