EDDIE MONEY: Only Rock Star I Ever Saw Do “THIS”….

With Eddie Money’s passing, my first thought was that his sense of humor and outgoing personality and friendliness often overshadowed the quality of his singing. He really was a soulful R&B singer – right up there with the likes of Sam Cooke, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and the singer Eddie himself cites as a major influence, Otis Redding.

Check out Eddie’s soulful tones on his 2nd album, “Life For The Taking” on the title song and on “Call On Me.”

My second thought after hearing about Eddie’s death was how he’s the ONLY rock star I’ve ever heard tell the crowd he wants to meet them ALL after the show at the merchandise table.

Normally, a fan must buy a t-shirt or CD to get an autograph from the rock star. Eddie would say, from the stage, that if someone in the crowd could NOT afford to buy any merchandise, they should get in line anyway he wanted to meet them and sign anything.

That goes against sound business practices, right? Didn’t matter to Eddie.
