The new Green Day isn’t going to be political

After Green Day’s super political 2004 album “American Idiot”, they announced their newest album “Father of All …” isn’t going to be like that.

Bassist MIKE DIRNT says, quote, “It’s just not where we are right now.  ‘American Idiot’ still says everything that needs to be said today.  So we’re at a place where we wanted to play with our influences.”

And BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG adds, quote, “The thing with Trump, all of it, for us, seemed too obvious.  There’s so much toxic [stuff] in the ether right now.  I didn’t want to write songs that would contribute to that.”

“I think this whole record, the point was to make Green Day more danceable.”
