If you’re a DIEHARD MICHAEL BOLTON fan, you know that he got his start in rock ‘n’ roll.
He was in a band called BLACKJACK back in the day that toured with OZZY OSBOURNE but he MIGHT have also had a shot at REPLACING Ozzy in BLACK SABBATH.
There have always been rumors floating around that Michael spent some time, love, and tenderness with the guys in Sabbath in the early ’80s and in a new interview, guitarist TONY IOMMI confirmed it.
He said, quote, “There was a lot looking for another singer, and we’d audition various singers, including Michael Bolton, believe it or not . . . he was one of them, which was an odd one. It just went on a bit, and we couldn’t decide . . .”
He added, “Eventually, it came to Ian Gillan, and we [got] him.”
That’s pretty awesome, and Michael hasn’t responded. However, in the past he’s DENIED the rumors. In 2014, he said, quote, “I was in Blackjack . . . we were more like Bad Company . . .
“We opened up for Ozzy and really hard bands. But that rumor about me auditioning for Black Sabbath was only a rumor, I don’t know how on Earth it started.”
