San Jose senior is first female player to throw touchdown pass

A Silver Creek High School senior has just made history.

Ariel Orona made a historic touchdown pass at Friday night’s varsity game. This was the first touchdown pass to be thrown by a female football player in Silver Creek High School’s 50-year history. This may also be the first in the state.

Orona is a wide receiver for the Silver Creek Raiders and completed a trick play (The Philly Special) with a successful touchdown pass. That’s right, she’s not even the quarterback and still has quite an arm!

KTVU reports that Orona didn’t realize she was the first female-player in the school’s history to complete a touchdown pass.

Orona hopes to inspire more girls to play football if they’re passionate about the sport. She wants to show everyone what it really means to throw like a girl.
