Maybe you’ve seen this metal sculpture of the dog with the man and boy enjoying one of San Jose’s best kept secrets? I love this park because I can walk the gorgeous flat dirt trail loop along the shady oak forest and feel like I’m deep in the woods and away from all the noise! Or, I can hike up the trails and quickly be in the hills high enough to see over Almaden Valley with Mt. Umunhum in the background!
It’s Guadalupe Oak Grove Park!
The park protects one of San Jose’s last remaining groves of heritage oak forests. Some of the oak trees are over 300 years old! Be on the lookout for cool wildlife as well.
It’s a great place for a picnic, easy walk, or moderate elevation hike where you can quickly get to the top! The parking entrance is off Thorntree Drive. Playground is on the other side of the fence, where the sculpture is, near Meridian and Coleman.
Now ya know!
