I can’t tell ya how many times I’ve been there – and my South Bay neighbors agree – and keep it busy not only in the SUMMER, but year round! And people from San Jose and Silicon Valley have been visiting it for over 100 years!
How long has it been since YOU were there???
The views of the ocean, the sea lions, and the historic Boardwalk are FREE, but the clam chowder is not. That’s ok, cuz it’s worth it – especially the best clam chowder on the Santa Cruz Wharf – on the far end at the Dolphin Restaurant. They even have a walk-up window near the spots where people gather to see the sea lions on the wooden planks of the wharf below. Although, I must say, my kids prefer the clam chowder at FireFish Grill on the wharf!
From the end of the wharf, you can see Seal Rock near the Lighthouse/Surf Museum. Seals love to perch on the giant rock/small island, and you just know there’s a bunch of sharks swimming around it just waiting!
I’ve been to the end of the wharf countless times, but don’t remember noticing this plaque until now.
Thanks to all who built this in…..1914!
I can’t wait to go back this weekend ~
