Take a peek inside the fabulous, new Oakland California Temple

Have you ever been driving on the 13 or the 580 and noticed the big beautiful building at the top of the hill? That’s the Oakland California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Pilots use The Temple as a beacon on approach into Oakland Airport.

After closing for 15 months for major renovations, The Temple is holding an Open House, and you’re invited to take a tour!  The open house runs from Saturday, May 11, through Saturday June 1, 2019, except for May 12, 19, and 26, 2019.  Free reservations for tours can be made through templeopenhouse.churchofjesuschrist.org

We were able to take a public tour on Media Day, and the Oakland Temple is as beautiful inside as it is outside. Driving up to the parking lot, everything is new and sparkling.

Check out the photos below of the Exterior, Entry, Baptistry, Brides’ Room, Celestial Room, Instructional Room, and Sealing Rooms. Once the Temple is rededicated, it will not be open to the public, so make sure you see it now!  Otherwise, you might have to wait 55 years until the next renovation.

The Oakland California Temple, located at 4770 Lincoln Avenue, was originally dedicated on November 17, 1964.   It will be formally rededicated on Sunday June 16, 2019. It’s one of seven temples in California, with an eighth announced in Yuba City.  There are currently 201 temples operating, announced, or under construction throughout the world.
